Tasik Bukit Merah Viaduct is one of the longest stretches of railway viaduct within Northern Double Tracking project. The viaduct has a total length of around 3.5km and a total deck area of around 41,000m2 and is located adjacent to the existing railway.

With typical spans of 15m the viaduct was constructed in simple reinforced concrete precast beams supported on spun piles for maximum economy and buildability. All piers were made continuous with expansion joint at every 14 spans. Most piers were made monolithic with the foundations thus eliminating the need for bearings over most piers.

RB was appointed as the Consultant responsible for the design & supervision of 3.5km Viaduct over the lake in this design and build contract.
